This is a rabbits eye view under a hedge in the garden of the Brucemore Estate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. What interested me in doing this piece is that it is a landscape without a sky. The twisted branches serve as the sky and provide a frame into the rest of the garden. I tried to convey the feeling of cool shade and all the texture and closeness of the branches. I like the contrast of cool and detail against the bright light and distance of the garden.
